Through Time
Observations on the following transcription of the 1831  Dunblane Electoral Roll .

Dunblane is a big parish contiguous with Muthill and Ardoch in the north , Kilmadock in the west and Logie to the south east . The list is extensive with the usual large number of farmers dominating the new Roll. The number of hand loom weavers is quite high bearing in mind the economic down turn after the Napoleonic wars . Many weavers in Perthshire were relatively prosperous and middle class at this period in time although things were about to change for the worse . A lot of the names of places  listed below have disappeared as small farms  merged into larger units . A useful source of identifying some of these is to consult Thomson’s Map of Perthshire with Clackmannan published in 1832 and which incorporated the superb work of Stobie a superb cartographer whose maps were issued earlier in the late 18th century . Available in digitised form on the NLS site you can magnify and print out  as you desire .  http://www.nls.uk/maps/atlas/thomson/531.html
